I apologise for the lack of news on the Scottish Masters, something happened on Tuesday which has thrown me completely out of kilter. Hopefully tonight or tomorrow I can write up a full review, with photos from the day.
If you don’t already know, the World Team Championships are running right now in Belgium, with 30 teams of 5 players battling it out to be crowned the best in the world. You can check out the live results, feeds and pairings as the tournament continues for the next two days.
This last week has been a nightmare of stress and problems, which not all of them relate to the Scottish Masters. I was up in Dundee for a Who’s the Boss event, run by Frazer; which was a lot of fun. Adding in a charity element to the event, made not only some money for charity; but gave us one of the best laughs all day. Seeing two players outbidding each other NOT to use Zerkova, as their caster for that round; was funny as anything I’ve seen in a while.
So to come down from that high, to a sick cat (literally all the time sick), Rankings HQ, and a parcel sent back to Micro Art Studio; as the Post Office can’t be bothered to knock my door and/or post a card. I am very grateful to Kacper at Micro Art Studio for offering to resend the items, as I saw some of the bases on Saturday; and they are very good detail and quality.
Overall this week has left me a little worse for wear…..and it’s not even Friday. Tomorrow I order the trophies, which will be the last of the things we are needing to get towards the Scottish Masters.
There is one bright moment in all this darkness, which arrived just as I was about to write this post. Bob, Steve and the great folks at PP/Cerberus, have sent along some models as prizes/support/etc not all of them WM/H; there is a couple of IKRPG ones in there as well. So this begs the question. Where do I sign up for this event, with all these goodies on offer?
I would like to first of all thank Andrew Galea, for getting back to me so promptly over the issues I raised with Rankings HQ. Through a couple of emails and communications in Rankings HQ; we have gotten the problems sorted and things are back on track.
The customer service since he contacted me, has been excellent and I feel this recent experience is a one off situation. Hopefully when the planning of the Scottish Master 2014 comes around, we’ll be turning to Rankings HQ to handle the hard part for us.
Let me preface this rant, by stating that I have tried everything possible to resolve this; with emails going back to the beginning of August at least.
Ranking HQ was recommended by other PG’s, as a good way to collect money for tournaments; that you didn’t want paid ‘on the door’. With the Scottish Masters, I hoped to use it to help fund it; either through invoicing or paying directly through Paypal. As it turns out, every single penny spent on this so far, has come out of my pocket; with still a couple more items to be purchased.
Now I’m ok with this, it comes with being a PG. However, that isn’t the point, Ranking HQ have failed both the players who have paid, as well as myself.
I have emailed them 3 times, asking for 2 simple pieces of information
How and when is the money transferred to the nominated Paypal account?
How does the ticket system of Ranking HQ deal with refunds for players who drop out?
There is not one thing on the site that states this, not one FAQ that would easily avoid this kind of situation. Sadly I can’t even get a single answer on their ‘Tavern’, it’s almost like its some secret society and I don’t know the silly walk and handshake; to be able to get the answers I need. I mean come on, this is your business, right now they are only missing the Stetsons and spurs; to complete the image of cowboys.
So would I recommend Ranking HQ? I wouldn’t trust them to organise a lunch break, let alone trust them with the players in Scotland.
Ok, so it was this morning; but there was still a heavy thud on my doorstep. A package had arrived from Bob at PP, containing faction coins and some little surprises. Big thanks to everyone at PP, as well as Steve at Cerberus for putting this together.
Can you say shiny?
We have both Warmachine:
Those of you sharp of eye will notice something wrong, but I’ll not spoil it for you. Along with the coins, there was set of 6 Steamroller dice; which we will most likely be giving away as spot prizes on the day. We’ve only just started this and I’m excited about it already.
