Scottish Masters is Live!

About 30 minutes ago, the sales of tickets for the first Scottish Masters went on sale.  This has been some of the hardest work in a long while, mostly because of the short time constraints.  The biggest problem came from the payment system we are using, which will be Ranking HQ.

After wrestling with it for several hours, it finally got sorted and the event is now live on Ranking HQ.  While this is a Scottish event, we aren’t restricting this to just players from Scotland.  If the aim is to expand next year, players from further afield should be encouraged to come along.  Though they should be aware, this is only a one day event this year.

Details of the event can be found here at Ranking HQ

Nearly the end….or just the beginning?

Well the Warmachine: Tactics Kickstarter will end in 35 hours; but that doesn’t mean the end of all the fun.  There is still money from Paypal to be factored into the total, they have already surpassed the total needed for Mercs to be a playable faction.  This is good news for Retribution players too, as this brings their debut into the game; just a step closer to realisation.

On another side of the game, the Scottish Masters is very near completion; with just some small matters to be taken care of; before registration goes live.  We have decided to do registration through Ranking HQ, which also allows players to pay their entry fee at the same time.  With just over a month, it’s getting to the point that it is now or never on this project.  We hope the experience for everyone is what we hope to achieve and that it can then be expanded next year to a 64 player event.  I think I have stressed more about making registration and payment easy for the players; than any other aspect of the event.

Whatever happens, this weekend is going to be very exciting; with Kickstarter and the Scottish Masters (hopefully going live).

Warbases

One of the traders at Claymore this weekend, is one that I use a lot for their MDF bases.  However that is not all they do, if you check out the Warbases website; you will find a myriad of goodies to enjoy.

I had spoken to Martin at Warbases, before going to Claymore; to see if he might be willing to help out with the Scottish Masters.   I had intended on buying some items for the Scottish Masters, small custom tokens for all the players to take away with them.  Getting the small matter of buying 50mm bases and tiny flyer movement tray (a godsend for Dystopian Wars) out the way, I asked about doing custom orders.  What started out as a small purchase, turned into a very generous contribution from Warbases.  Not only will they do the custom bases, they will also be giving some custom keyrings for each player.  We are still waiting on some design issues, but we hope to have a fixed design very soon.  Sadly with it being convention season, PP is swamped with prep for Gen Con, etc.

A big thank you to Martin and the family at Warbases, for their generous contribution to this event.

Claymore 2013

This Saturday, I will be demoing WM/H at one of Scotland’s biggest wargame shows.  Last year I demo’d Heap, the fun Bodgers card game from Privateer Press.

Other than the odd time, I haven’t demo’d the game like this in a long while so I am both looking forward to it and a little anxious.  I’ll be making time to speak to some of the traders as well, hopefully seeing if they can help out with the Scottish Masters.  Other than arranging payment of the entry fees everything is coming together for the event.  I’ll be promoting it on Saturday, hoping to spread the word about it.

If you would like to help out, or can offer something towards the event; please feel free to contact scottishmasters@virginmedia.com

Thuds in the Night

Ok, so it was this morning; but there was still a heavy thud on my doorstep.  A package had arrived from Bob at PP, containing faction coins and some little surprises.  Big thanks to everyone at PP, as well as Steve at Cerberus for putting this together.

Can you say shiny?

We have both Warmachine:

And Hordes:

Those of you sharp of eye will notice something wrong, but I’ll not spoil it for you.  Along with the coins, there was set of 6 Steamroller dice; which we will most likely be giving away as spot prizes on the day.  We’ve only just started this and I’m excited about it already.
