League of Extraordinary Gamers

Recently Painting Oaths, was blogged by the League of Extraordinary Gamers (LXG); a blog covering the many and varied games out there.  On a recent trip to Salute, Phil Millar, creator of Painting Oaths; was interviewed by Tom Haswell (LXG Blog Owner).

The full interview can been seen here, but the reason I mention the blog, is not only because it’s a great informative read; but it also (unwittingly to me) used a number of photos of my models in the interview article.  Those who read my previous post, will remember the Oath models I had already painted.  All three appear in the article, which for me is a great honour; considering some of the other models that could have been used.

Dreaded Lurgy

Woke up yesterday, with a throat that felt like I had swallowed a Hairy Caber….sideways.  Thankfully it wasn’t that, but I blame my daughter for bringing the Canadian Cold back with her.  This doesn’t bode well for this weekend, where I will need to be on my best form. Most especially my throat, which will be needed to shout in a crowded events hall.

The last few things are coming together, trophies and boards to be picked up on Thursday.  Spot prizes will be on Friday, which will hopefully give everyone involved something to walk away with something.  I’ve decided to also pay for the trophies myself, to make the prize pot sponsored by Worlds at War; more worthwhile.  There will be the usual top 3 prizes, plus a single prize for a random player; not in the top 3.  There will also be one other prize, which will be a Trigger Prize. A Trigger Prize, is a reward for an unspecified event happening during the tournament.  It could be something as simple as rolling double 6 or snake eyes.  The only problem, is the players don’t know what the trigger is going to be.

I love being a devious, sneaky git; it makes this weekend so much fun for me as well as the players hopefully.

Skirmish 2011 – WM/H Update

**Update** This will now officially be a 15pt Mangled Metal/Tooth & Claw event. This will mean only Warcasters/Warlocks and Warjacks/Warbeasts, NO units and NO Solo’s (also no Battle Engines).

There will be trophies for top 3 places, as well as the usual prizes. There is also going to be spot prizes given away, throughout the tournament; which could be for anything. It could be best painted Caster/Lock, having the funniest haircut, fastest caster kill or even bribing the TO with WM/H shinies.

The idea is to make this as fun and rewarding a tournament, for everyone; not just the winners.
