For those not aware, or who haven’t been following this blog until now; I am part of the Painting Oath group on Facebook. From the groups pages, they state the mission to be:
A year long painting competition with monthly prices from the best miniature companies around! Get painting, prizes aren’t for the most well painted models, they’re for painting your models!
So as the above says, this is about what you paint, no matter how good you are (or bad in my case); or even how many you paint. It is more a mutual motivation to paint all those models you buy, while enjoying the experience and expertise of hundreds of others doing the same thing.
My Painting Oath for May, has been delayed because of my recent hospitalisation; but I am now raring to go painting the following:
I recently took part in the Press Gang Painting Exchange, which I posted up pictures of the Kayazy Eliminators I did for my ‘victim’. I am happy to report, the models have not only survived their Trans-Atlantic crossing; but arrived safely to their new home.
Included in the box was a fully painted Nicia, Tear of Vengence; which some of you will remember I posted on this blog. Now while Forsaken (my victim) didn’t know who was painting for him, he might have guessed the Eliminators were his. However, Nicia was something I did as a little bonus. Forsaken took photo’s of Nicia, alongside his other ‘flame’ models; to show how close I came to his without knowing it.
Of the 128 painters that took part, 125 finished within the time allowed. This included some Privateer Press staff members, who have a 100% completion rate. Sadly the next one won’t be until the autumn now, so I’ll have to get back to painting my own mini’s again.
My wife recently looked at my painting table, remarking on the number of unpainted models left to receive attention. I’ll admit that I have been a little side tracked by other things in recent months. However this last week, I have made a concerted effort to paint something; which in this case is Khador Battlebox.
I have no intention of playing Khador, other than using them in demo’s; so I decided to have a little fun with them.
If that isn’t cheesy enough for you all, then I guess I will have to come up with something else.
Well after the tournament last month, I have decided to make a Kirai crew; based entirely on the Japanese/Oriental theme. One of the things I liked most about Kirai, was the movement shenanigans; it just fit in so well with my tricky devious mind.
So next up on the list of models, will be
Ten Thunders Brothers
I don’t even know what they do or even if they will work well together. Malifaux for me, is all about giving me a break from WM/H every now and then.
I’ve been keeping my head down recently, as March was just way too busy for me. With two WM/H tournaments, as well as the recent Malifaux tournament; it’s been a struggle health wise for me.
That is not to say I haven’t been busy, far from it. As you will have seen painting hasn’t been far from my agenda, though it hasn’t been the blitzing of previously. I recently finished a little silly side project, which my dear wife convinced me to take on. Anyone who know the PP forums, will have seen the My Little Pony thread. I always saw the cool avatar pictures with the ‘Cryxian My Little Ponies’. So when my wife spotted as My Little Pony in the supermarket; she made me buy it to convert it from this……
…..into My Little Nightmare Pony.
Ok so it’s not very Cryx, but it was fun doing it. Wife and daughter liked it so much, they want one converted too.
