Well finally got hold of the model from Worlds at War, I didn’t have a chance to get down before yesterday (Sunday). So today, I am devoting as much time as possible to getting it cleaned and ready for putting together tonight or tomorrow.
First impressions of the model, are that no photo will do this justice in regards to detail. From simple details like the crocodile skin to individual stitches on his arms; he is truly a Frankenstein construction. I haven’t started yet and I am already excited about this project. Hopefully the paint job will do the model justice, when I am finished with it. For now, here is the parts I have to assemble.
In the coming weeks I will be doing a project for someone, which will involve my painting and modelling skills. I can’t say too much about it, but suffice to say the model in question is completely different to any I have done before.
I am a Cryx player through and through, I can’t get away from the massed hordes of undead. So when I got the opportunity to paint Maelok the Dreadbound, I jumped at the chance.
Reading his stats in No Quarter #38, this is a warlock that would fit right into Cryx. Like some Cryx, he has the ability to bring dead models back into play. He has buffs to make them stronger and lots of other Cryx-y shenanigans. All in all, I am looking forward to this project; I already have ideas about his basing and colour schemes.
Gencon was a buzz with taunting images of this BE, now though it is almost within players grasps. I have to admit that I wasn’t impressed back then, but having seen this now; I can see the vast difference between concept to finished product.
Also released soon, will be 50mm Objective Markers; for use in Steamroller 2011 tournaments. One of the things I like about wargaming; is the visual aspect. These makers, just like the wreck makers; add that little visual touch of reality to the game.
Remember, October will be a reduced release month. That said, what better excuse could there be to NOT spend money; than Hordes: Dominiation in November. The long-awaited release of the Hordes expansion, is looking like something to really look forward too. Just like Warmachine: Wrath, it will have new Warlocks, Beasts and much more; including all the Battle Engines for all the major factions. 2012 is shaping up to be an interesting year already, one that I am very happy to be a part of.
