Well the Warmachine: Tactics Kickstarter will end in 35 hours; but that doesn’t mean the end of all the fun. There is still money from Paypal to be factored into the total, they have already surpassed the total needed for Mercs to be a playable faction. This is good news for Retribution players too, as this brings their debut into the game; just a step closer to realisation.
On another side of the game, the Scottish Masters is very near completion; with just some small matters to be taken care of; before registration goes live. We have decided to do registration through Ranking HQ, which also allows players to pay their entry fee at the same time. With just over a month, it’s getting to the point that it is now or never on this project. We hope the experience for everyone is what we hope to achieve and that it can then be expanded next year to a 64 player event. I think I have stressed more about making registration and payment easy for the players; than any other aspect of the event.
Whatever happens, this weekend is going to be very exciting; with Kickstarter and the Scottish Masters (hopefully going live).
With just over 2 days to go, the final stretch goals are within their grasp. Dark Seduction is very close in, just under $6,000 to go; but this might already have been achieved as Paypal money hasn’t been included yet.
The images are banners and pictures for people to use on their Facebook pages as well; to help spread the word about the Kickstarter. You can get them here, where you will see they have faction specific banners; so you can show your colours to make your stand. If that wasn’t enough, there is also some great backgrounds for your computer.
Well the countdown is getting shorter, but the backers for the Warmachine: Tactics kickstarter is getting bigger by the day. Just over 15,000 backers, a total of $1, 200,000 + pledges from Paypal totallying $7,000; they are very close to opening one of the best stories in WM (imo anyway).
Called Dark Seduction, it tells the tale of two sisters; separated and brought up on opposite sides of the war. Victoria Haley, Commander of the Cygnarian forces and Deneghra, Warwitch of the Cryxian armies that raid Immoren. Many doubt Deneghra even knows her true name, as one night during a Cryxian raid on her town; an apparition called Nightmare stole her away from her family and her sister. Raised by the Cryx, her former life dissolved slowly to be replaced by one of corruption and devious scheming; within the power play of leaders. Seemingly a loyal second in command to Asphyxious, Deneghra learned her lessons well; to the point that not even her commander is safe from her machinations.
After this stretch goal has been reached, the next two are ones that will please a lot of players. Magnus the Traitor and his battlegroup, with Retribution of Scyrah to follow. So if you want your chance to be part of this greatness, you can pledge here for as little as $20 for the game. With just 3 days left, I really do hope they get to bring in the Retribution; otherwise those Angry Elves will be (even more) insufferable for the rest of eternity.
So unless you have missed it, Privateer Press Interactive; in partnership with Whitemoon Dreams kicked off their Warmachine:Tactics Kickstarter computer game in explosive style. If you not sure what this is, check out the video
Within 35 hours, they have broken and fulfilled their initial target of $550,000. 8 Days into the 30 day limit, they are nearing that magical $1m target. Check out the Kickstarter, as stretch goals are being added almost daily; with the speed at which this is being backed. Oh and if you’re outside the US; take a look at the updates BEFORE pledging as shipping is a lot cheaper than initially expected.
I’ve pledged at the $40 (Deadeye) level, which will give me the digital download of the game + an exclusive Kickstarter only model & coin due to be released in April; before the general release of the standard model in June next year. After all the Kickstarter models have been send, the moulds will be broken and never produced again.
If you’re a fan of the tabletop game already, check out and subscribe to the Whitemoon Dreams Dev Diaries; where they hope to show what they are doing to bring this game to life.
Wives and girlfriends that is, at least those that understand the hobby and your geekiness. I admit, I am a little stuck in my ways; when it comes to computer games. Give me a classic RPG, like Baldurs Gate over the wishy washy games your get these days; where whizzbang graphics blind players to the shallow or even non-existent story/plot.
There was a glimmer of hope when Dragon Age came out, tens of hours I poured into the game, running it three times with different characters. Sadly they let the players down with the follow up, where I barely scratch double figures in time spent completing it. So I recently came across Good Old Games, who were offering Torchlight for free (as well as other games when you sign up for an account); during their NoDRM Summer Sale. If that wasn’t enough, they have not one, but a bundle of 10 classic Dungeons & Dragons RPG games (Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Temple of Elemental Evil, etc).
Suffice to say, either my wife loves me very much; or she just likes me to be quiet while she is working.
