Make it stop…..

The pressure of trying to paint these models in time, is starting to get to me.  My main focus seems to be on the Kraken just now, to the point that the Blood Hags are just being left unfinished just now.  That said, the Kraken *should* be ready for action this weekend in Dundee; with perhaps one last hard push I can have if finished tomorrow or Friday.

In other news I have decided on the following Casters; at least for the time being.  The choices were mostly because of knowledge of the Casters and my enjoyment of playing them.  Of them all, Morty is my favourite; having DJ and 2 Seethers for an opponent to contend with under Morty’s feat/spells; it so much fun.

  • Mortenebra (+ Deryliss) – Tier 4 (Infernal Machines)
  • pDeneghra – Non Tier
  • The Witch Coven of Ghalgast (+ Egregore) – Tier 4 (Machine Minds)

Just to remind everyone what my DJ looks like…..Mwaaaahhh!

UK Nationals Lists

In the build up to the Nationals, I find myself in two minds.  On the one hand, there is the part that just wants to go have a good time and play some games. The other part of me is competitive, so wants to do the best I can.

One of the problems I have though, is that being a PG; I haven’t had much chance to play.  My knowledge is rusty and I really need an intense refresher course in even the basics of the game.  This makes me nervous about facing some of the best players in the UK, ill prepared to play.

Another problem, is army lists.  My first inclination is to go with Casters I know and love – Mortenebra and the Witch Coven.  I’d like to run eSkarre or pDenny, but can’t decide which one to run.  pDenny I am more familiar with, but Skarre is just so much fun to play.

So this week I’m going to post up some potential lists I will be looking at over the two tournaments leading up to the Nationals.

Painting Progress

Just over 3 days ago I finished the first Harrower, since then I have had a painting frenzy; with not just one; but 4 models painted.

The Seether, which could be seen in the background of the Harrower pictures; had been started.  However due to trying something new, it didn’t turn out the way I wanted.  I used the Vallejo Crackle Medium on the red sections, with a necrotite green base coat.  It didn’t crackle as good as I had hoped, so had to improvise a little……or strip it completely.  Given the time constraints, I decided to salvage it as best I could.

Next up the two Iron Lich Overseers, which were a massive pain in the ass.  If you come to buy these, make sure you pin that tail piece well; as it was the only piece to give me issues.

Finally the Blood Hag, finished today.  I really do hate painting flesh tones, no matter what model I am painting (humanoid or beast).  That said, I think this turned out reasonably well in the end.

Already started on the Blood Witches, though again ‘flesh tones’; which added to a full unit equals brain shutting down.  Had enough for the day, going to head off to New Eden* to kill some rats.

*Eve Online, for those not familiar with the game.

Slow, but Steady

Well as the title suggest, progress on the models needed for the Nationals is coming along.  I took a break yesterday, as

  1. Ran out of glue
  2. Using a hand drill on small pieces is killing my hands (Who designed the Iron Lich Overseer; they need to be shot)
  3. Trying to avoid burn out, this early on in the process.

So for now here is pictures of the first Harrower, as well as WiP shot of the 1st Seether in the background.  Yes you might have guessed by now, red is my favourite colour; which is why I am dreading the Kraken when I get around to it.
